Fiscalance keeps cookies to a minimum. This page lists everything the app stores in your browser and why.
Essential session cookie
When you sign in, our authentication provider (better-auth) sets a session cookie so you stay signed in as you navigate the app. This cookie is strictly necessary for the service to work and cannot be disabled while remaining signed in; it is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Functional local storage
We use your browser’s local storage (not a cookie, but similar in purpose) to remember things like your theme (light/dark), your language, the figures you enter in the optimizer if you are not signed in, and whether you have dismissed this cookie notice. This data stays on your device and is only sent to our server if you explicitly save it to your account.
Analytics
If enabled, Fiscalance uses a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool (Umami) that does not use cookies and does not track you across sites — it only counts aggregate page views and a small number of anonymous interaction events (like starting the optimizer) to help us understand what content is useful. We do not sell this data or share it with third-party advertisers. This is off by default and only active when we have configured an analytics website id for the deployment.
No advertising cookies
Fiscalance does not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party trackers for marketing purposes. We do not sell your data.
Managing cookies
Because we only set an essential session cookie, there is no non-essential-cookie consent banner to configure — dismissing the notice on this site simply hides it and does not change what is stored. You can still clear cookies and local storage at any time from your browser settings; doing so will sign you out and reset your unsaved preferences.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if what we store changes. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision.
